FireWater Teachers

The FireWater Collective hold weekly classes in Sacred Earth and Tribal Fusion Belly dance with Hannah Mi Anis, and American Tribal Style® belly dance with Philippa Moirai. Both teachers are also available for private tuition, semi-private group classes and workshops. 170_FireWater_June2014_MaaniHANNAH MI ANIS: Hannah is a London based dancer and instructress. She maintains strong influence from her mother studio in Tokyo, the Devadasi studio where she does a residency once a year and the Shakti school of dance, India where she furthered and deepened her training. She has a wealth of eclectic dance experience ranging from extensive touring with live musicians (Don Kipper, Oojami and Dajjah), collaborations with contemporary dancers (Guest Suites: Jacky Lansley Company) and has shared stages with musicians, poets and old movies while dancing for the independent arts scene in London (The Secret Cinema, The Autumn Shift, Shunt). With ATS® dancers ‘Moirai’, she co-creates FireWater, a co-operative of dance teachers working together to provide the community with performance opportunity, nights full of beauty and advanced learning. Hannah performs and teaches Tribal blended with Sacred Earth belly dance; a dance with respect for nature and the elements, woman’s innate knowledge, the language of archetypes and spiritual depth. Philippa Moirai VGedPHILIPPA MOIRAI: Taking her first ballet steps at the age of three, Philippa has had a lifelong passion for dance. A professional performer and dance teacher based in London, she has travelled the world to train extensively with teacher and mentor Carolena Nericcio (the creator of American Tribal Style® belly dance) and many other great masters. A certified ATS® instructor since 2007, FatChanceBellyDance® Sister Studio and one of the two chosen SSCE instructors in Europe; Philippa strives to remain true to this dance form whilst sharing the knowledge and passion that she has for it. Philippa is well known for her encouraging and informative approach to teaching and her elegant dance style; regularly teaching and performing both locally and internationally. She feels honoured to have shared the stage with many amazing dancers and musicians, to have performed with Carolena, Megha and members of FCBD® on several occasions, and to have co-taught the General Skills Intensive with Carolena in the UK and Sweden since 2011. In addition to directing Moirai Tribal belly dance troupe, Philippa is an integral part of the FireWater Collective and a founding member of the International ATS® Sisters Collective and Ter’zíMoirai. For more information please see
